KT 10053 & PS 20053 Wood Frame Floating Dock w/Resin Top

No specs available at this time.

How much of this dock floats above the water?

Our floats individually will float in 1 1/2 to 2" of water. A single float is 9" tall and has 500 lbs of buoyancy. The actual height an entire dock section will sit above the water varies based upon the weight of the wood to create the frame and top. For treated wood this height (free board) is typically 9" as measured to the top of the decking. Please keep in mind the number and weight of people utilizing the dock will also effect the free board.

Can you connect two kits to make an 8FT. X20 FT. dock?

Two kits would connect to make an 8 ft. x 10 ft. section. We have plans that would allow you to complete this task.

What type of wood is frame?

Wood is not provided. What you receive from PlayStar are all the brackets, hardware and dock components to build one 4 ft. x 10 ft. Floating Dock. Lumber (treated or cedar), screws and pipe sold separately. Additional materials required for a Floating Dock: (5) 2 in. x 6 in. x 10 ft., (2) 2 in. x 6 in. x 8 ft., (11) 5/4 in. x 6 in. x 8, (229) #8 x 2 in. Deck Screws, (1) Dock Pipe.   See "Tools & materials" tab for a complete project list.

How much weight can it hold?

A 4' x 10' Floating dock section will hold up to 1500 lbs. Any additional questions please let us know.

Does the kit include 2 pipe brackets and 2 pipe augers?

This Kit includes 1 pipe sleeve, 1 auger, 3 floats and 1 Commercial Grade Dock Kit which includes all the brackets and hardware to build the frame as shown.

Can these floating docks be left in a frozen pond during the winter?

The PlayStar floats are made from 100% Virgin Grade High Density Polyethylene which means normal freezing and thawing will not damage a PlayStar Dock. However, docks are left in at owner’s discretion. No dock can withstand heavy ice movement. You should consider the following factors: What has been the history of ice movement at your location? Do other dock owners in your area take their docks in or leave them out? Are there local restrictions or requirements? What kind of recreational activities take place around the dock during the winter?

What is the material of the black floats? Plastic? Steel? What is inside of floats if anything?

PlayStar floats are made from 100% Virgin Grade High Density Polyethylene which makes them impervious to chemicals, oils etc. as well as freeze/thaw stable. Our floats do not contain any fill material that can be harmful if exposed to the environment.

What is included in the 475 lb weight? It is hard to believe that the items included in the kit alone weight this much. Does the 475 include the lumber which is purchased separately?

The 475 weight provided is the entire sections once it is completely built.

Will it work in Brackish water? I live on a river and have tides and the water is brackish.

Salt Water or "brackish" water will affect the hot dipped galvanized metal brackets and hardware. According to the American Galvanizers Association, Galvanized coatings provide considerable protection to steel immersed in sea water and exposed to salt spray. The factors that influence the corrosion of zinc in fresh water also apply to sea water. However, it is the dissolved salts (primarily sulfides and chlorides) in sea water that are the principal determinants of the corrosion behavior of zinc immersed in sea water. Given the high level of chloride in sea water, a very high rate of zinc corrosion might be expected. However, the presence of magnesium and calcium ions in sea water has a strong inhibiting effect on zinc corrosion in this type of environment.
