PS 25056 & KT 15056 Aluminum Floating Dock Kit

No specs available at this time.

Is the 200 lb weight without the decking?

The actual Dock Frame Weighs approximately 75 lbs. Each Section with Decking materials and the various support components to make a floating, roll in or stationary dock wiegh less than 200 lbs collectively. If you are using lumber as decking it simply attaches to the aluminum frame with multi-purpose self tapping screws.

Do the floats come with the fixings to mount them on a Playstar aluminum floating dock (model # 1505) or are they sold separately?

The Aluminum Dock Kit PS 1505 contains all the hardware necessary to mount the floats to the frame.

How do you attach the PS 1155 dock floats to the PS 1505 frame?

They are attached with 3/8" x 1 1/4" hex bolts included in the Aluminum frame kit.

What type of wood is the decking?

If you choose to Build It Yourself the Wood is not provided. What you receive from PlayStar is the Aluminum Dock Frame, hardware and dock components to assemble one 4 ft. x 10 ft. Floating Dock. Lumber (treated or cedar), screws and pipe sold separately.   See "Tools & Materials" tab to download a complete list of lumber required.

Do I need to remove my dock during the winter months?

Normal freezing and thawing will not damage a PlayStar Dock. However, docks are left in at owner’s discretion. No dock can withstand heavy ice movement.

You should consider the following factors:

What has been the history of ice movement at your location?
Do other dock owners in your area take their docks in or leave them out?
Are there local restrictions or requirements?
What kind of recreational activities take place around the dock during the winter?

Will this hold up in salt water?

We have only extensively tested our products in fresh water situations. Salt Water or "brackish" water will affect the hot dipped galvanized metal brackets and hardware.
According to the American Galvanizers Association, Galvanized coatings provide considerable protection to steel immersed in sea water and exposed to salt spray. The factors that influence the corrosion of zinc in fresh water also apply to sea water. However, it is the dissolved salts (primarily sulfides and chlorides) in sea water that are the principal determinants of the corrosion behavior of zinc immersed in sea water. Given the high level of chloride in sea water, a very high rate of zinc corrosion might be expected. However, the presence of magnesium and calcium ions in sea water has a strong inhibiting effect on zinc corrosion in this type of environment.

What is the height & how high does it float above water?

The Aluminum Frame is 5" tall, the Resin Dock top adds approximately 1" and PlayStar Dock floats are 9" high.

How do you attach the floating dock to a bank?

On a floating dock we recommend leaving a float off of the front of your first dock section so a portion of this section serves as a "gang" plank.   This will also allow it to properly function with the seasonal changes in water levels.   The pipes on the subsequent sections will anchor the dock and keep it in the same location on your shoreline.
